On October 18, 2018, Tarabicos Grosso, LLP welcomed approximately 90 of our clients and friends to attend our Real Estate and Land Use Update. The event was held at the Christiana Hilton in Newark, Delaware and gave members of the firm an opportunity to share information on a wide range of land use and real estate transaction topics.
Larry Tarabicos discussed unique financing arrangements, important considerations when selling commercial property, issues specific to purchases of shopping centers and office buildings, and critical terms in agreements of sale. Larry also touched upon the applicability and potential benefits of utilizing the Village and Hamlet provisions in the New Castle County Unified Development Code. We also reviewed many of the most prominent projects Larry has been involved with over the past 33 years.
Geoff Grosso focused on various nuances of real estate transactions. Geoff provided information about fair market value for purchase options and rent, title and survey issues, due diligence considerations, and particular provisions within agreements of sale. Geoff also discussed how to handle real estate transactions involving out of state counsel.
Mike Hoffman shared images and thoughts from a mixed-use bus tour he took in May. The tour highlighted numerous cities in the Southeast, showcasing the latest in mixed-use development. Mike offered his takeaways and discussed how we can bring similar developments to Delaware. Mike also discussed the distinctions between exactions and impact fees, and when each is proper.
Surprise guest speaker and Philadelphia comedian Joe Conklin ended the event with a hilarious comedy show. He performed a variety of spot-on impressions of local and national celebrities. Thank you, Joe, for making us laugh and capping off a wonderful event!
