Starbucks has announced the grand opening of a new location at the Farrand Center on Kirkwood Highway. The new Starbucks building features a drive-thru and will replace the existing location in the nearby shopping strip at the corner of Kirkwood Highway and Farrand Drive. The opening of the Starbucks marks the completion of the Farrand Center redevelopment project. An Aldi grocery store and Planet Fitness gym replaced the former best Buy at the site in 2018.
Tarabicos Grosso assisted property owner and developer Windsor I LLC with obtaining the necessary approvals for changes in the use of Farrand Center’s existing building and for construction of the 2,220 square-foot Starbucks. The project required several variances from the New Castle County Board of Adjustment, including variances for reduced parking, paving, and a variance for curbing associated with the Starbucks drive-thru. With partner Mike Hoffman at the helm, all variances were granted and the Plan moved forward.
The current Starbucks location is scheduled to close on February 10, followed by the opening of the new store on February 14. More information can be found here, as featured in the Delaware News Journal, Â January 24, 2020, by Brandon Holveck.
